At sunset the race is over, and the riders can go back to the venue where the vestizione took place. It is time for the svestizione, the “undressing”.
Upon arriving at the venue, su Componidori greets all the riders and people present and enters the hall laying on the horse’s back. Once close to sa mesitta, su Componidori jumps onto it and dismisses his horse.
The ceremony begins. After removing the top hat and veil, a roll of drums marks the moment when the mask is removed: Su Componidori has returned to human form.
Now the guild, the riders, and all those present can approach him/her to greet and congratulate him/her.
